What a surprise.

As far as I know, the best man for the job has already performed his own cost/benefit analysis; Dr. Edgar Morgenroth, transport economist at the ESRI, who called it "idiotic".

There doesn't seem to be much point in debating you, when you clearly made your decision, before any public cost/benefit analysis was performed.

But naturally, Labour would be counting votes in their own cost/benefit analysis anyway.

Vincent

Perhaps I can clarify our actual position.

We believe ALL major transport projects should undergo Cost Benefit Analysis - that makes perfect sense in any economic climate.

We are in favour of the Slane bypass. We have made a submission to An Bord Pleanala to re-iterate our support. We see it as helping to reduce journey times for motorists and improving the health and safety of Slane village and its surrounds. We are confident that a Cost Benefit Analysis would support the case for a bypass.

I am willing to engage on debate on this issue on my facebook page with anyone who may be interested.

Many thanks

Excellent ban HGV's through Slane and get them to use the M1.
Suggest you send a 'consultancy bill' for 0.1% of the projected savings which would probably be enough to retire comfortably on.

Keep up the good work. What we need is for a foreign company to come in and do a tv. programme like what has been done on Egypt and Stonghenge. As Ireland is older than both of these sites it might have an impact on our ignorant goverment if theprogramme was to be viewed world wide. Keep me posted of what is happening . I am spresding the word to all that I know thanks for your good work.

The Boyne region is a shared heritage, not only for Northern and Republic of Ireland, but throughout the British Isles and Europe, where Neolithic culture has been found to be widespread. It is beyond understanding that any organisation would consider the infrastructure of a road system more important than the heritage and inheritance of the people of Ireland! This area is rich in significance and importance, and needs protection from exploitation and destruction from all sources. Once removed, such can never be restored to the detriment of all. Study, preserve, and allow future generations from Ireland and visitors from around the world, the opportunity to marvel at our rich history..Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth and the Boyne Valley are second to none.
